Moran Iron Works is Hiring a Heavy Machine Operator Near Onaway, MI
Maintain complete control over the entire outer area of the company. Directing, organizing, and operating in a safe and efficient manor to keep the flow of materials and goods into and out of the property. Daily handling of incoming freight and raw materials as well as supplying the production staff with the necessary materials. Responsible for plowing, grading, and structuring the lay down areas in a way that all traffic flow and material storage is safe and orderly.
Tasks
- Direct and handle the unloading of all steel and supplies, which are to be stored in the yard and/or shop areas.
- Takes a physical count to confirm that the materials delivered correspond to the items on the original purchase order, bill of materials, and/or project specifications.
- Complete a visual quality inspection of the condition of all material received and marks the items with the appropriate information and stores it accordingly.
- Is knowledgeable and familiar with the use, safety, and general maintenance of heavy equipment and is able to operate multiple types of equipment.
- Is knowledgeable and familiar with general steel material.
- Directs and supports the loading of all manufactured products which are to be shipped and delivered to the customer. Clean, maintain, and organize all warehouse facilities.
- Clean, maintain, and organize the yard/laydown areas.
- Restock, return, scrap, or absorb leftover materials, after released from project management department.
- Collaborate with production support and project management to produce high quality, inexpensive crating/packaging for finished products.
- Return surplus steel and materials to stock and utilize them to create value for the company.
- Maintain general inventory of stock steel for day-to-day use.
- Assist with all interior and exterior building maintenance (in cooperation with production support department).
- Winter months responsible for snow plowing.
- Continuously communicate with all departments, to ensure they have all the necessary equipment/material to complete their job most efficiently.
